Audience / Age
The Service is intended for users aged 17 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
1) Summary of What We Collect
We collect information in three main ways:
A. Information you provide (Account & Support)
- Name (if you choose to provide it)
- Username
- Email address
- Customer support content (messages, attachments you send to support, and related metadata)
B. Content you choose to process (Images / Text)
- Images or screenshots you select for text extraction
- Text and outputs generated from your images (e.g., extracted editable text)
Important: You control whether to upload content for processing. Some processing may happen locally on your device; if you choose cloud processing, it is handled as described in Section 6 (AI / Server Processing).
C. Information collected automatically (Device, Usage, Diagnostics, Location)
- Device information (e.g., device model, OS version, language, time zone, app version, and certain identifiers where available)
- Usage data and analytics (e.g., feature usage, interaction events, performance metrics)
- Crash logs and diagnostic data (e.g., crash stack traces, app state at time of crash)
- Location data (approximate or precise) if you grant permission
2) Why We Use Information (Purposes)
- Provide and maintain the Service (including account creation, login, syncing when enabled, and history features)
- Personalize your experience and remember preferences
- Improve the Service (performance, feature development, troubleshooting, and analytics)
- Security, fraud prevention, and abuse detection
- Customer support and responding to requests
- Legal compliance and protecting rights, safety, and property
We do not sell your personal information.
5) International Transfers
Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than where you live. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or equivalent mechanisms.
6) AI / Server Processing for Text Extraction (Images and Text)
MistaStream helps you extract and organize text from images or screenshots. Some features may involve automated processing that users may refer to as "AI" or "machine learning."
When you choose to upload images or text for processing:
- Processing location: Your content is processed on servers controlled by MistaStream (our own servers). We do not send your content to third-party AI model providers for processing.
- No third-party sharing: We do not share uploaded images, extracted text, or generated outputs with any third party, except as strictly necessary to operate our infrastructure under processor contracts, or if required by law.
- Limited retention: We aim to delete uploaded images/text and generated outputs from our servers immediately after processing is completed or as soon as reasonably feasible. Temporary copies may exist briefly for reliability and security, but are minimized and removed on a rolling basis.
- User control: You decide whether to upload content and whether to generate outputs. You can delete items in-app (where available) and you may contact us to request deletion.
- No training / marketing use: We do not use your uploaded images or text to train advertising profiles or for marketing. We do not use them to build biometric identifiers.
7) Photos, Face Data, and Biometric Information
We do not perform facial recognition and do not collect biometric identifiers (such as faceprints).
If an image contains a face, it is treated as ordinary image content:
- Used only to extract text as requested by you
- Not used for identity verification or tracking
- Not used for advertising or marketing
- Not used to train third-party models
By default, scan results are stored locally on your device, unless you enable features that require syncing or cloud processing.
8) Data Retention
- Account data: retained while your account is active.
- Account deletion: after you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize account-related personal information within 30 days, except where we must retain certain information for legal, security, or dispute-resolution purposes.
- Usage analytics: retained up to 12 months.
- Customer support records: retained up to 6 months, unless a longer period is needed to resolve issues or comply with legal requirements.
9) Security
We use reasonable safeguards designed to protect information, including:
- Encryption in transit and, where appropriate, encryption at rest
- Access controls and least-privilege permissions
- Regular security reviews/audits and monitoring
- Backups and disaster recovery practices
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
10) Your Privacy Rights and Choices
Depending on your location, you may have rights to:
- Access and receive a copy of your information
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete your information
- Restrict or object to certain processing
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent

Location Permissions
If you permit location access, you can turn it off at any time in your device settings. If you disable location, location-based features may not work.
11) Third-Party Links and Services
The Service may contain links or integrations that are provided by third parties. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.
12) Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new "Effective Date" when changes take effect.

14) Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the jurisdiction of our principal place of business, without regard to conflict of law rules.
Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to this Privacy Policy or the Service will be resolved by binding arbitration, except where prohibited by law. Where required, you may have the right to bring claims in small claims court or to seek public injunctive relief. The arbitration will be conducted in the jurisdiction of our principal place of business under rules that permit a fair hearing, and the arbitrator's decision will be final and binding.
